Inside those stanchions are lots of seals and grease, the latter of which is our focus today. A light vaseline like grease coats all of the seals and walls inside of there, and you’ve got a few options when it comes to that grease! Our Three Favorite Suspension Greases Our three favorites here at The Lost Co are Slickoleum, Slick Honey, and SRAM Butter. These three are admittedly incredibly similar and can be used interchangeably in all of your suspension rebuilds. All three work to minimize that breakaway force to make that initial stroke oh-so-supple, letting your suspension track the trail perfectly. There isn’t a reason to pick one over the other, and are a great example of brands producing nearly identical products for the sake of competition. Just because you’re rebuilding a SRAM fork or dropper post doesn’t mean you need to use the SRAM Butter, and you’ll be just fine using any of these three products! Here at the shop we do suspension rebuilds all day long and have been using Slickoleum for everything we get to open up! All brands of suspension or dropper posts have been getting the Slickoleum treatment and we have been very stoked on its performance! Whichever of these three you choose for your next suspension or dropper post rebuild project will be perfectly suited to the application and keep things running smoothly until the next service.
